Wonderful Exhibition curated by Doug Casebeer
January 25th-March 16th
Since its first juried ceramics exhibition in 1974, FAC has demonstrated its commitment to Colorado artists working in clay by presenting over 30 exhibitions that have focused on the medium. Becky Guy, Colorado Clay Coordinator, describes a major change in the 2014 exhibition from those of previous years: “The 2014 Colorado Clay exhibition will differ from past shows by adding an invitational component to the traditional juried process. FAC has invited several highly accomplished Colorado artists who are doing exciting new things with clay to participate in the exhibition, alongside those artists who have been juried in.”
Invited artists include Bebe Alexander, Heather Mae Erickson, Sara Ransford, Martha Russo and Maynard Tischler
This year’s juror is Doug Casebeer, Chair of the Artists Residency Program and Artistic Director of Ceramics, Sculpture, Furniture Design & Woodworking at Anderson Ranch Art Center in Snowmass, CO.
Juried artists include Julie Anderson and Gregory Grasso, Penney Bidwell, Mark Boulding, April Brooks, Sarah Christensen, Deborah Dell, Jay Dougan, Kim Ferrer, Robin Furuta, Jenny Gawronski, Kim Louise Glidden, Carla Kappa, Carol Kliger, Lynda Ladwig, Jamie Lang, Claudia Mastrobuono, Lauren Mayer, Claire McArdle, Sharon McCoy, Frank Nemick, April Noble, Mike Rand, Todd Redmond, Jerry Rhodes, Maura Rieman, Shelley Schreiber, Bob Smith, Stephanie Thomas, Rita Vali, Denise Whittaker-Hoar, and Steven Wood.
Sara, it was wonderful to see your beautiful work in person and to briefly meet you at the show opening last week. I wish I had a chance to speak with you a little more at the opening, but hopefully we will cross paths again. I also work with porcelain paperclay, with similar nature-based inspiration. I saw on your resume that you have exhibited in Steamboat Springs a number of years ago….. this is where I live and work. I am planning to apply to Anderson Ranch for a residency this upcoming year, so hopefully I will be lucky enough to return to the Ranch and see you again in Aspen!
Thanks!
Julie Anderson

I taught in oak creek in 84 at sorocco high, and then at steamboat high in 85. Long time ago!!beautiful area though. Stay in touch
