Playing with Your Expectations highlights the work of artists who have challenged the norms of material use, assigned value or commodity, expendability, subject matter and content. The Art Center hopes to create critical dialogue with every curated exhibit, but this exhibit brings some of our most experimental artists to the forefront.

The Western Slope and Moab are lucky to have had all these creatives with us no matter how brief a moment in time. They have been and continue to be some of the bravest people if not the most generous in spirit our community has come to know

Western Slope artists selected are: Jamie Bardsley, Grand Junction; Verona Burkhardt, Grand Junction; John Cohorst, Carbondale; Paul Collins, Snowmass (now Nashville, TN); Gary Haushulz, Palisade; Karly Koster, Grand Junction (currently Austin, TX); Lancer Livermont, Grand Junction; Charmaine Locke, Carbondale; Sara Ransford, Aspen/Loma; Paul Soldner, Snowmass, James Surls, Carbondale, and Bryan Wade, Grand Junction.

Close neighbor, Adele Alsop, from Moab, is also included because. Her work is so utterly breath-taking. Proximity to quality of work make a natural fit for this exhibit.
